Volumetric Screw Feeders are designed to feed a “volume” of product. Almost any type of dry powder, pellet, flake, chip, or ingredient we can feed with an auger. VeloDyne’s volumetric feeders have been through some technology upgrades over the years. Even now that we have a “standard”, our engineering staff looks forward to new challenges. We will do whatever it takes to meet our customers’ needs, and are always willing to design features which may not be available or discovered yet.   

2002: VF-1 and VF-3

The VF-1 and VF-3 were produced from 2002 to 2006. Each feeder had a v-bottom hopper design, a motor and gearbox assembly, coupling assembly, which was connected to the drive shaft of the auger, a base plate, and each came standard with a 20:1 gearbox. Below are features between the 2 models:

2007: VF-2 and VF-4

The basic design stayed the same but a huge upgrade took place in removing the coupling portion of the drive shaft assembly and enabling the gearbox and motor assembly to be directly connected to the feeder body. This reduced parts, maintenance points, and increased the accuracy of the feeders.

2008: VF-5

The VF-5 was a modified version of the VF-2. With only a 1 cubic foot hopper, the VF-5 was designed with the belly of the feeder closer to the auger. Its purpose is to feed potassium permanganate KMN04, which is used extensively in the water treatment industry as a regeneration chemical to remove iron and hydrogen sulfide from well water. KMN04 compacts very easily, so with less product below the auger, this takes care of clumping, compacting, and other potential feeding issues.

20011: DE-2.5

The DE-2.5 was introduced to meet very small feed rates. The initial design concept was created to feed dry additives at truck wheel wash stations. With a 6.3 rpm 1/20 HP gear motor it is able to meet minimal feed rates without compromising accuracy.

2012: Acquisition of Auger Feeders, LTD

2015: Barracuda 500A, 1000A, 1500A, 3000A Volumetric Screw Feeders

We wanted to reorganize our feeder product line, and make a push to stand out amongst our competition. We are striving to do this not only in capability, but also created a new logo and new product name: Barracuda, if you look closely the spine of fish is an open helix auger and what would be the rib cage is our material conditioning overwind that comes as an option with our screw feeders.

Each feeder was named after approximate hopper capacity, .5, 1, 1.5, and 3.

The 500A still uses the 6.3 1/20 HP Gear Motor, the 1000A and 1500A both come standard with a ½ HP Motor, and the 3000A comes with a 1 1/2 HP motor. Each feeder can be outfitted with accessory options including various gear box ratios to meet desired feed rates. We offer a full line of hoppers, vibration, material conditioning, weighing and control options.
